Download Festival 2010
I know it was ages ago, but I have just about recovered from the experience to now write a review of the weekend I spent at the Download Festival.
The weather was amazing and the site layout was much better this year.
‘Well, what about the music’ I hear you ask! ACDC headlined the Friday night. It was 30 years since they last played the festival, and it was such an event that they brought their own stage with them. I don’t think I have ever seen such as showman as Angus Young, the band’s guitarist, who’s performance culminated with giving the audience a peek at his ACDC branded underwear. They are one of those bands who you find you know more of their songs than you thought you did (probably because you have watched too much Supernatural or Iron Man like me).
Another notable act on over the weekend was ‘Rage Against the Machine’. I have been a fan for a number of years, ever since my younger days of the Tiv’s Saturday Rock Night (showing my age here) but never thought I would hear them live. For me, this made the festival. Experiencing their music, while standing in a field with thousands of other people, was unreal.

My Top Festival Tips:
1. Water – Drink lots! Being out in the heat all day really takes it out of you.
2. Sunscreen – Need I say more?
3. Don’t camp on a hill – We did. Waking up in a scrunched up ball at the bottom of your tent in the morning was not fun.
4. Loo roll – Festival loos are an experience in themselves, so be ready
5. Hand sanitiser - enough said
6. Camera – Capture the experience.
7. Wander around – go and explore the site. There are usually lots of other things going on and bands playing that you may not have discovered yet.
8. HQ – Decide on a place to go if you get lost
9. Comfy footwear
10. Friends – Who else better to have a good time with?
11. Creature comforts – 3 days of camping and being on your feet all day can be hard. Take your pillow, airbed and something to pamper yourself with.
